👮♀️ Glasgow has a new top cop. Chief Superintendent for Greater Glasgow Lynn Ratcliff spoke to Lauren Brownlie at the Glasgow Times about her top priorities: tackling youth violence, preventing road deaths, tackling unsafe e-bike riding and finding a solution to unofficial title parties in the city centre.

🛌 A Southside man has opened up about the horrible conditions inside Tartan Lodge, a homeless hotel where his brother died. The interview is part of the Glasgow Times’ investigation into the city’s shocking temporary accommodations. - Kirsty Feerick.
🚔 Two men were arrested after police raided properties on Friday, one in Cessnock and one in Govanhill. They recovered a firearm, ammunition, a five-figure cash sum and around £290K of drugs including cocaine and cannabis. - Rebecca Newlands, Glasgow Times.
✈ Unite the Union says strike action at Glasgow Airport is “inevitable” after 98.5% of around 200 ICTS (UK) Limited workers voted in favour amid disputes over pay. 🚨 Mark Keel, 32, has been charged with the murder following the death of his partner Maxine Clark, 36, inside a Riddrie property. - BBC.
⚖ Robert Greig has been jailed for the “savage” murder of stranger Craig Watson in Dennistoun in 2022. Five young adults were also due to stand trial before Grieg pled guilty. - Connor Gordon and Grant McCabe, Glasgow Times.
↳ The judge told all five: "This was a feral, concerted attack on a man unknown to you. You have expressed remorse now but not one of you contacted emergency services.”

🥫 A new foodbank and warm hub in Dennistoun, The Everlasting Foodbank, needs volunteers. Manager Diana McKelvie said: “Anyone, over the age of 16, who is compassionate, caring, and wants to help vulnerable people are welcome to get in touch to help.” - Kirsty Feerick, Glasgow Times.
🚨 A woman, 58, who was hit by a car while on a mobility scooter has sadly died two days after the Baillieston crash. - Holly Lennon, STV.

Tying in with the centenary of local landmark the Couper Institute and Library, Cathcart and District Community Council is working with local groups and businesses to run a packed programme of events between 3 - 31 August: with a public lecture on the brothers who funded the Institute as a planned highlight.
