🏠 A Southside resident has shared fears he would end up homeless after refusing to pay an unaffordable rent increase of over 50% from £650 to £1,000 per month. The tenant’s union Living Rent was able to bring the bill down to £800 but warned many others are facing this grim rental reality. - Jolene Campbell, Daily Record.
🎒 Labour failed an attempt to block cuts to MCR Pathways mentoring programme at yesterday’s full council session. Schools will now have to use anti-poverty money (Pupil Equity Funding) if they want to mitigate the cuts. - James McEnaney, The Herald.
🎂 To celebrate Glasgow’s 850th birthday, a new £100,000 cultural fund has been announced to boost existing festivals and events. Applicants can apply for up to £10K to include Glasgow 850 themes/activities in their 2025 programmes. - Mark McDougall, The Herald.
🍻 Sub Club and Brewgooder have teamed up to release the Sub Club Dazzle Lager. 5p from each can will go towards creating equal opportunities in the city’s dance/electronic music scene via the Dazzle Project. - Craig Williams, The Herald.
